World of birds

We went to the World of birds. The world of birds, is a place were you get to see birds and some cool animals. We saw some amazing birds like the Spotted eagle owl.

The spotted eagle owl is a medium sized owl. It is one of the smallest eagle owls. Its prey is small mammals , birds , frogs and reptiles. They swallow their food whole and spit out the full skeleton. The skeletons land in the same spot every time. It is illegal to hunt these birds in most of Southern Africa. Most of these big birds were either pets or hurt and could not be returned to the wild :( .

One of the animals we didn’t see was the Fish eagle. The fish eagle has many names because of its distinctive Call in Afrikaans it is called the visarend and inkwazi in isiZulu. The Fish eagle has a white head and a brown body they eat fish.

I had a super awesome time there and I would like to go there again.

Groot Constantia

This was the house/museum

We also went to Groot Constantia. Groot Constantia is a winery. But you can do stuff like explore the museum , taste wine ( for adults only) take a tour through the winery and try some chocolate.

First, we went to go though the museum which is the original of everything from the house that the owners lived in. It was cool. Next, my Mom and Dad went wine tasting. They both loved it. I was allowed to smell the wines only.

After that ,we went on a tour through the winery. It was cool and we got to see French oak barrels filled with wine. The reason the barrels are made out of French oak is because the USA’s are too sweet and the African’s are too bitter.

Finally, we left and got ice cream because my Dad “ missed a turn.” Good job Dad. :)

Hop on hop off bus tour

We went on the hop on hop off bus tour. The hop on hop off tour is a double decker bus like the one in London but smaller. We went on the blue route it was sooooooooo boring!! I all most fell asleep .
