Road trip

Road trip!!

We decided to go on a road trip. Our first stop was to Delphi.
Delphi is a small town up on the mountains and was made around in the fourth century. It is known for the temple of Apollo ( the God of prophecy and the sun) and the Oracle ( kinda like a fortune teller but cooler). It has a beautiful view.

Next up on our road trip was a place called Meteora.

Meteora, is a bunch of cliffs with monasteries and nunneries on them. There used to be 24 of them on the cliffs but now there are only 6. The first monastery was built in the 13th century.  They built them high on a cliff because they were trying to be safe from the Turkish people who wanted to kill them.

The first monastery we went to was called Varlaam.  We climbed up a bunch of stairs and went over a bridge.  Do you know how they used to get up to the monastery?  They used to get up by a pulley with a net or would have to use a wooden ladder.

When we got up to the monastery Mom and I had to wear long skirts.  It had beautiful courtyard and a lovely view.  It had a small museum in the basement area and places of worship.

This is how they used to get up to the monestaries

The net they used to pull people up

We went to two other monasteries, Monastery of St. Stephen and the Holy Trinity.
All of them were so cool because they were looking over the mountains on one side and the town on the other. My favourite was the Varlaam monastery. My mom said her favourite part was  “ The monasteries” Ya right! I think it was the giant wine barrels that the monks had .I really enjoyed looking at the monasteries.

The surprise.

It was the day before we had to go back to Athens. We went out to dinner and my Mom and Dad surprised Nate and I by taking us to a five star resort for part of my birthday present!!! It was called Ikos Oliva.

Ikos Oliva is located at the cost of the Aegean sea.The resort has a private beach , pools , swim up bars , a sports center , a water sports spot , and a bunch of restaurants.

The first night we were there, we went to a beach party. It was so much fun.

We also meet two awesome friends, Ed and Ben. They are from England. We spent most of our time together at the resort.  It was so much fun. We went everywhere, to the pool, sport center, arcade area and even had lunch right beside their family.  They were lots of fun.  I hope to see them again maybe in England or some place else. I wish I had taken some pictures with them.

bye guys!!!!!!
