Hello Japan

Hello Japan
Sun rise from the plane

We are in the land of the rising sun!!!

Japan is a country that has no bordering countries because they’re an island. The population is 126.8 million which is 26 times larger than Canada’s population!!! Japan is also called the land of the rising sun. A myth said that the sun was the closest to Japan than any other country. That myth stayed around for 1400 years!!
This is there flag.

The flags meaning is that the white part of the flag means honesty and purity. The red part means the sun and the Amatersau.

We are staying in Osaka. Osaka is the third biggest city in Japan with a population of 2,670,000 thousand people.

The money is Japan is called yen. Here is a picture.

On the 1000 yen is Hideyo Noguchi, who is a doctor.
On the 5000 yen is Ichiyo Higuchi, who was a Meiji era poet and writer. On the 10000 is Yukichi Fukuzawa,Who was an artist.

We went to Osaka Castle!!

Osaka castle is located in Osaka. It was built in 1583 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi ( I will talk about him in a bit.) After he united Japan after the Sengoku-Jdai. It was burned down 4 times one in 1615 and then was rebuilt to be destroyed again in 1868 and again in 1885 and finally in 1947.Then rebuilt it to make the Osaka castle museum.

Osaka castle has 8floors.Each floor has a part of Osaka Castles history except the 8th because it was a viewing deck.
replicas of decorations that are on the outside of the castle

My favourite parts were the samurai armor, helmets and sword. The Samurai armour had two huge buffalo horns and metal plates that get smaller and smaller so they look like a bucket.

The helmet was red with big long metal peacock feathers. Then the sword was just a sword.

We aslo went to Dotonbori.

Dotonbori is the entertainment district. It has lots of lights, arcades, restaurants and shopping malls. When we were there we played a arcade game and explored.

This guy is making Octopus balls.  It is fried dough with a small octopus in it

The next day we went back to Dotonbori and got lunch it was a bunch of deep fried stuff yum. It was gooooood!!

Well thats what we have done so far.
See ya
Sam
