We went to Cyprus.
Cyprus is a small island by Greece. It’s population is 1.17 million. It’s capital city is Nicosia.it’s bordering countries by the sea are Greece,Turkey, Syria , Israel and Egypt.
Cyprus has two sides of the island. One of the sides is Greek and the other is Turkish. Here are the different flags.
The Greek sides flag means copper and peace. Cyprus is a Greek word for copper. They called it copper because there was a lot of copper on the island when they settled there. The peace means having peace with the Turkish side of the island.
We went to Cyprus to spend Christmas and New Years. We also went to take a break from all the early mornings for going to places. We did lots of days trying to get ready for Christmas.
We went to Aphrodite's rock.
Aphrodite is the Goddess of love and when she was born (kind of) she emerged from the water on a beautiful rock. (quite an entrance) She was the most beautiful Goddess in the world.
We went there and we saw it. To me it just looked like a big ugly rock but it maybe was prettier when the myth was created but it was a big black rock surrounded by more rocks. I liked it.
We went to Nicosia.
Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus. It is where the border of the north and south of Cyprus is.
Both sides were beautiful until it started to rain. I thought Nicosia was cool and I hope next time I go there I would like to explore more.
