Portugal
On July 31st, my family and I went to Portugal!!
leaving for the airport
This is our first stop on our trip around the world. Portugal is a country at the edge of Europe. Here is a map
Here is a picture of its flag.
The green side of the flag means the hope of the country and the red means the blood of the people who died for the country. Spain is the country that borders it. The Atlantic ocean is around it. Right now we are staying in Lisbon. The capital of Portugal.
This is what we have done so far :).
We went on a tuk tuk tour. A tuk tuk is a small motorcycle / car. Here is a picture of it.
We toured all around Lisbon, from churches to the highest point of the city. It was super fun.
We also went to a place called Sintra. At Sintra there is a castle called the Moors castle inside the castle grounds there is a huge palace and garden. The palace is called Palácio Nacional de Sintra. I think Disney should have used it as a Disney princess castle because it was so beautiful. It was covered in colors like red, yellow and purple. With gargoyles and statues. The garden is very large and had lots of trails that you could explore. Here is a picture of the garden and the palace.
Sadly, we were not allowed to take pictures inside the castle (Mom was not impressed) so no pictures of the inside. :(
We also went to the aquarium. I thought it was really nice and interesting. They had lots tropical fish, penguins, puffins , otters and lots of sharks. It was fun.
We also went to Sesimbra where there are lots of beaches. The water we swam in was the Atlantic ocean. IT WAS COLD. It was so cold that we were purple after maybe 3 minutes. :^(. It was still fun and we made stuff in the sand. We eventually got used to the water and played in it. It was fun.
We also went to Alfama, the oldest part of Lisbon. It has narrow streets and tons and tons of little restaurants. We went into one of the restaurants for dinner and it was beautiful. It had traditional Portuguese decor, food and music which was my favorite part of the whole restaurant. Fado music is Portuguese music that can be traced back to the 1820s. It involves a Portugees guitar ( it’s literally called that) and an acoustic guitar and of course, a singer. Check out my instagram page to hear a sample of it.
Well, that is what I’ve been doing. Thanks for reading my blog.
Bye - Here are some more random pictures
