January 10th to January 22

Bounce

On January 10th, we left for South Africa.   First, we had to get to London it took 7 hours to get there. I mostly slept on the plane. Next, we had to get on another flight to South Africa 😊 but it was another 11 hours . On that flight, I watched 2 movies and 6 tv shows and slept for only two hours! After that, we were finally in South Africa!! When we got to Pecanwood, we just relaxed and got our internet set up. We have been busy.  Here is what we did. We have been hanging out with our cousins, going to Bounce, gone swimming and went to Monte Casino and lots more. Bounce is a place with trampolines ,an obstacle course, rock climbing and much much more. It’s like xplay in Barrie if you’ve ever been there. Monte Casino is a place were there is arcades movie theaters and much more.

We also, went to a really cool restaurant called the carnivore.  If you don't like meat you shouldn't go there.  You can try all sorts of different game meat like, crocodile, kudu, zebra and other wild animals. You can also just have chicken, beef etc.

Yesterday, we went to the Wondercave. dun dun daaaaaa !! You probably don’t know what it is. Well, it is a cave that was discovered by Italian miners in 1898. They used to mine limestone illegally. It was stopped in 1902 because of a war and they didn’t  have enough money because they only made 50 cents a ton. Scientists believed that two billon years ago this cave was created. First, we had to go down 87 stairs that went down 22 m !! Next, we went down a lift ( an elevator ) down to 60 m below the surface. It was a bit harder to breathe down there but we were ok. We saw something really cool an 6000 year old baboon fossil. Do you want to hear the story? It’s sad, so if you don't want to read it stop here! About 6,000 years ago, an earthquake happened and made a hole in the ground. Scientists, believe that the young baboon either went to explore the hole or fell in. When this was happening, he somehow broke his arm. He was able to find a safe spot but soon after that there was an aftershock. They believe that during the aftershock  huge bolder fell in hole.  Sadly, the baboon couldn't get out and died of starvation :(  After that, went to see a spot where a dried up lake had been.  It is no longer there because of global warming.  Finally, we went back up the elevator and up the stairs and finished our tour.

  2. Hi Uncle Randy,
    Thanks for reading my blog.
A kudu is a type of African buck, that tastes yummy. Dad ate his with cranberry sauce (that's what they recommend you eating it with) but I didn't.
As for Dad, why would I take it easy on him? Sure, he is old...but he is still Dad.
