France is a country in western Europe. It’s population is 66.99 million people. The capital city is Paris, the city of love and light.
The bordering countries are Italy, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Monaco, Andorra,Switzerland, and Luxembourg. The oceans that border France are the north Atlantic and the English channel.
When we got to France we went to Nice. It is pronounced like this Niece.
We really didn’t do a lot in Nice. We explored of course, but we mostly took it easy. Our grandparents arrived for part of the time, so we hung out with them. They were getting ready to go on a cruise around the Mediterranean Sea. Nice would be a great place to go in the summertime but I would think it would be super busy.
We went to Evian-les-Bains. Evian is a small town located on the shoreline of Lake Geneva and across from Switzerland.
Don’t worry we went on a day trip to Switzerland. You can read it and see what we did while we were there on my previous blog. We explored the town and found a place where you could fill your water bottles with Evian water...for free!!!!
Next we went to the city of love, lights and of horrible drivers Paris!!
The first thing we did was see the Eiffel tower. It was beautiful!! The architecture was amazing. Don’t worry I will talk more about the Eiffel tower later in the post.
Next , we went on the hop on hop off bus tour.
We saw Notre Dame , Louvre, Paris Opera house and more.
The Louvre Museum is a huge art museum that has hundreds of paintings and statues like the Mona Lisa, the Venus de milo and the first animal painting. My favourite was this one. Why? Because it is hilarious and if you look closely it looks woven with wire.
i love this one!
After that, we went to the top of the Eiffel Tower :). Mom was scared but I wasn’t. I was petrified. When we got up there, it felt like the Eiffel Tower was swaying :(. We learned some interesting things about the history of the Eiffel Tower. Did you know that the Eiffel Tower is 324 meters and the CN tower is 553 meters tall so the CN tower is 229 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower!! Cool right.
We tried escargot.
For those of you that don’t know what escargot is, it is snails. Yum! The snails were soaked in garlic butter (double yum) and you eat them with a weird forky thing. They was delicious and somewhat slimy.
Well, that's all for me. We will be leaving Paris and will be in Morocco.
See ya,
Sam
