Greece 2

We went to Queen symphonic. Queen symphonic is a concert. There was an 60 member orchestra, and a 10 member band all singing Queen music.    The concert was at the Odeon theatre on the hill of the Acropolis.. The songs were so much fun and the music was just so great. It was a late night but it was worth it.

We went to Hephaestus’s temple. The temple is the only one that is still in really good shape.

Who is Hephaestus? Hephaestus is the god of fire, metalworking, stone masonry, forges and the art of sculpture and volcanoes. He is the son of Zeus ,god of skies and Hera ,goddess of marriage. Hephaestus’s symbols are hammers, anvils , tongs, and quails. He is married to Aphrodite and his children are Thalia, Eucleia, Eupheme, Philophrosyne, Cabeiri and Euthenia. Hephaestus

Before we got to Hephaestus’s temple we walked around the grounds and saw many statues of Roman and Greek emperors. We also saw Ares’s temple (He was the god of war). All that was there were a few small rocks that outlined where the temple used to be. He would be mad, I bet he would have a temper. Then, we got to Hephaestus's temple it was mostly still together part of the roof was gone but still ok. I thought it was cool.
See you later Sammy

Hello Greece

Hello Greece :)

We arrived in Greece for my birthday month.  I am pretty excited to be here.  This was one of the countries that I chose to come to.

Greece is located in southern Europe. The bordering countries are Albania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Republic of Macedonia and it borders the Ionian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. The population of Greece is 10.77 million people. The official language is Greek.

When we arrived the sun was setting. It was beautiful. We drove from the airport to where we will be staying for the next month.  Once we got settled in a bit, we decided to wonder around the neighbourhood.  We are in a very touristy area.  We are near the Acropolis ( a bunch of Athena’s temples ), the acropolis museum and the town of Plaka. It is a great place to be.

We went to the Acropolis. The Acropolis, is a bunch of temples that represent Athena, the goddess of wisdom and warfare. There was also some things for Dionysus, the god of wine. Most of it is on a rocky cliff so we had to climb. It wasn’t a big walk but it was fun. On our way up we saw Dionysus's theater. It was beautiful it had big marble stairs for seats and statues engraved into stone around the theater.

When we got to the top we saw two temples for Athena, the Parthenon and the Erechtheion. The Erechtheion is a temple to Athena and Poseidon. The construction started in 421 BC!! It finished in 406 bc. The Parthenon is another temple to Athena that started to be built in 447bc and was finished in 438bc when Athens was at there highest point.
Then we went back home.
